The Music Store Studios is a trusted private music lesson studio located in Mesa, Arizona. Established in 1981, the studio is home to a team of deeply experienced instructors—six of whom have been teaching there for over 25 years. The studio offers private instruction across a wide array of instruments, including guitar, piano, violin, drums, clarinet, trumpet, ukulele, saxophone, and many others. With a personalized and respectful approach to teaching, the studio’s core mission is embodied in its tagline: “Turning players into musicians.”
Our History
The Music Store Studios carries forward a legacy of over four decades of musical excellence in the East Valley. The business was originally established in 1981 as Garber Music, a small retail shop offering a limited selection of sheet music, instruments, and accessories, alongside three private teaching studios. In 1993, ownership transitioned to Jon Paul Escobedo and Merri Lewter, who renamed the business The Music Store. Under their leadership, the store flourished—expanding to 5,000 square feet, housing 11 teaching studios, and building a reputation for having one of the most comprehensive selections of sheet music in Arizona. In addition to private lessons, the store offered instrument sales, rentals, repairs, and online services, earning the trust of generations of musicians.
After more than 30 years of dedicated service, The Music Store closed its retail operations in 2024. However, its educational mission endures through The Music Store Studios, the teaching division that has long been the heart of the business. Upon the store’s closure, longtime instructor Tracy Kimbrell assumed ownership of the studio, ensuring that the commitment to high-quality music education would continue.
Today, The Music Store Studios remains a respected center for private instruction, led by a team of experienced educators—several of whom have been teaching here for over 25 years. The studio continues to serve the community with dedication, professionalism, and a deep passion for music education.
